nPhase is not new to M2M.  Our rich history reaches back to the turn of the century before the category was even named. Its early success in wireless infrastructure monitoring led to its 2003 launch when Nokia selected nPhase to serve as their North American M2M gateway. Numerous achievements followed including the 2004 Chicago Innovation Award. nPhase’s ability to solve the complex problems of widely deployed high-value assets resulted in strong partnerships with leaders such as ABB Power & Robotics, Siemens Water, UTC Power, Air Products, and others. 

The first adopters of M2M were manufacturers who began to see M2M and Smart Services as a viable way to create new revenue streams. By dramatically increasing their service capabilities via M2M, nPhase allowed manufacturers to pursue revenue streams that never existed before, capture a greater share of post-sale service business, and derive competitive advantage from a new, highly-differentiated services offering.

In 2006, nPhase was acquired by Qualcomm and became Global Smart Services, bringing an entirely new level of scale, reach and stability to the burgeoning M2M field. Since then, nPhase has been instrumental in bringing M2M to the business mainstream, delivering reliable service regardless of changes in the wireless space, providing access to ongoing innovation, and removing the risk associated with technological change.  The Verizon Wireless / Qualcomm nPhase joint venture was announced in July of 2009. In addition to forging the fragmented M2M space into a single solution, the joint venture leveraged the leadership and expertise of nPhase, the wireless innovation of Qualcomm, and the largest and most reliable wireless 3G network in North America under Verizon Wireless. In December of 2011, Verizion Wireless fully acquired nPhase.
